Recycling!

We have begun our recycling unit this week. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! Students seem very excited about it. Please remember to do the survey tonight and return it tomorrow to allow us to graph our results on what we recycle and how many people recycle on their own.

Thank you!

Classroom supplies/Update for this week

I want to welcome everyone to Room 104's blog! We are very excited about this! As the year is wrapping up, we are running of out essential supplies. If you could please donate glue sticks to our classroom, that would would wonderful!!

We are studying subtraction up to 12. Students are having a very difficult time understanding subtraction.  We have learned different styles of subtraction, such as using a number line and fact families. We will rely on using the number line as a main method.  If your student would like to work on math outside of the classroom, the following links will be beneficial.

If you have any links, please feel free to add them!

Also, the iPod Touch has excellent (free) apps for math! If you would like some of these suggestions, please let me know!

"You are a genius and the World needs YOUR contribution" -Angela Maiers

KySTE Keynote SpeakerThe KySTE conference I attended had a absolutely wonderful keynote speaker, Angela Maiers. She was extremely energetic and motivating. She explained how 98% of 4-year old are creative.. which diminishes quickly as children enter school and eventually goes down to 2% at a staggering rate!
She iniated a discussion based upon the question, "Are you indispensable?".
Please continue to read about what Angela Maiers spoke about at the conference by following the link. I guarantee you will walk about with a different perspective on life and education! :)

Welcome!

After attending a technology conference in Louisville March 10-13, it has inspired me to have more technology in our classroom! You can never have too much!!! I am very excited with all of the information I learned and the ease of access to begin using it! I missed the kids terribly, but I knew they were in great hands and that the information I was learning will benefit them!
A blog is a great way to keep everyone informed and saves paper! This will be a great portal for me to keep parents up-to-date with what is going on in the classroom, pictures, great websites, and links that I find interesting. I will be able to update the blog anytime and you will be able to leave comments, which I hope you do!
It is a blessing to be able to work with all of your wonderful and intelligent children. Thank you for being my partner in education.
